The PPA and the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing wish to advise you of the following updates to the Residential Medication Management Review (RMMR) and Home Medicines Review (HMR) Program Rules. The intention of these updates is to strengthen the Rules and provide clarity to participating Service Providers.

RMMR 6 RMMR Service Delivery Previously titled ‘RMMR Review Process’, renamed ‘RMMR Service Delivery’. Section updated to provide further clarity on the RMMR process and service delivery.
RMMR 6.2 Recommendation for a RMMR Service Updated to clarify the distinction between a recommendation and a formal RMMR Referral, including that a recommendation does not authorise a pharmacist to commence an RMMR Service.
RMMR 6.3 RMMR Referral Requirements Updated to provide greater clarity on RMMR referrals, including Referrer responsibilities, acceptable referral format, required referral content, and referral validity and timing requirements.
RMMR 6.4 Patient Consent Updated to introduce dedicated sections on the purpose of consent, acceptable consent types and documentation standards
RMMR 11 Supporting Documentation New section added, identifying the records that must be retained for seven years, including the referral, consent, eligibility evidence and HMR report

Please also be aware that further information in relation to the telehealth changes for HMR and RMMR follow-ups announced by Minister Butler will be provided to Service Providers prior to 1 November 2026.
